JOB DESCRIPTION

Role purpose:

The role holder is a technical leader

with responsibility for delivering new products, pulling together a small multidisciplinary project team as required

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Technically responsible for projects to deliver new products, with technical ownership of the complete product.

Technical leadership of small multidisciplinary project team which will involve some technical contribution within own area of expertise.

Lead products through product lifecycle encompassing specification, feasibility, development, verification, certification and handover to volume manufacturing.

Indicators of Effectiveness

Delivery of products on time and within budget.

Mentoring, coaching and technical supervision of Engineering team members.

Meeting project milestones and deadlines. All aspects of technical documentation completed.

Additional Information:

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

•Expertise in one of the following disciplines:

◦Hardware design – digital or analogue

◦RF design

◦Verification and test

◦FPGA

•Familiarity with the other disciplines and product industrial design

•Experience of the whole product life cycle from requirements capture through implementation to validation

•Experience of working in an engineering research and development environment

•Experience of technical leadership in a small multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver a product or device

•High standard of technical documentation

•A degree in a relevant engineering discipline

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential skills and experience:

Background in one of the following disciplines, and familiarity with several others:

digital hardware design, analogue hardware design, RF design, FPGA.

Experience of working in a commercial Engineering research and development environment.

Product development lifecycle experience; taking a product specification through design and development to the point of manufacture.

High standard of technical documentation.

Technical leadership of small flexible teams, comprising of members from other engineering disciplines, to develop products

Preferable skills and experience:

Knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment interfaces and an interest in aviation.

Knowledge and experience of certification of products and design for manufacture.

Experience of leading cross functional teams.

Customer facing experience, experience of dealing with suppliers and contractors
